David Nebreda, a Bachelor of Fine Arts, at the young age of 19 years was diagnosed with Schizophrenia.
Presently, he lives locked in a flat in Madrid, Spain with just two rooms where he has made all of his photographic work, while taking no medication, having no communication with the outside world, and living without radio, newspapers, books, or television.
He has been a vegetarian for twenty years, practicing abstinence, and subjecting himself, and his body, to severe fasts to maintain a state of extreme thinness.
He takes photographs of himself after self-flagellation, and self-mutilation.
His work came into the hands of a French art named Jean-Paul Curnier, who has already published two books which cover David Nebreda’s inimitable craft.
